Who is PrizeRebel?

Calling themselves the number one paid survey website on the internet, PrizeRebel is a Las Vegas-based company that started in 2007.

Since that time they’ve paid out over $15 million in rewards. PrizeRebel estimates they pay out $1,000 a day in rewards to more than 8 million members.

New users must be over 18 years of age (or 13 with parental permission) to use the paid survey site to earn cash for completing online surveys and tasks.

Is PrizeRebel legit?

PrizeRebel is a legit site, with an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau.  This is due to not having any complaints filed against the company since their file was opened in 2015. Online reviews cite the company as legitimate and actually paying out at a low threshold of $5.00.

Complaints about PrizeRebel

That said, there were complaints that fell into a few categories.  The first was about being disqualified for a survey after answering the survey questions.  Another was around points not crediting after signing up for an offer.

Finally, the last category of complaints was around signup forms dragging on. PrizeRebel is very responsive to these complaints.  It was common to see them posting replies to help resolve the negative reviews.

All of that said, you will find some unscrupulous folks who will tell you that you can make big money each month on PrizeRebel.  Often this is by lying to qualify for surveys.

We’d recommend you avoid doing that as it’s an unethical activity and will get you banned from the site. You can find out more about the site’s policy about lying on surveys.

How to get started with PrizeRebel

It is super easy to sign up for a PrizeRebel account. You can sign up for free on their website. Within seconds of signing up, you are on your way to earning cash and other prizes. The signup form is also very short. You just need to fill in some personal information, such as your name, email address, select a password, and agree to their terms and conditions.

Once signed up, fill out your profile by answering a few basic demographic questions. This helps PrizeRebel determine which paid surveys you qualify for. When you first sign up you may not see many surveys immediately available.

Don’t worry, they will start to show up within 24-48 hours. This is due to the processing time it takes for survey companies to review your information.

Quick Tip: If you plan on signing up for multiple surveys you should think about setting up a separate email address.  It’s a quick way to optimize the survey process a little by cutting down on inbox clutter.

How to use PrizeRebel

PrizeRebel’s site is really easy to navigate with great user experience.  On top of that, they have a free Google Chrome plugin extension.  This plugin can keep you up to date with your account earnings and available surveys.

The site also keeps things exciting by offering daily challenges.  These challenges give you bonus points if you meet a certain earnings target. PrizeRebel also offers promo codes that you can enter on the site for instant bonus points.

You’ll need to keep an eye out for those in the promotional emails you’ll receive. You can also find them by following them on your Facebook account or Twitter feed.

How to make money with PrizeRebel

PrizeRebel partners with nine different survey companies.  This means there is always a survey available for you to take. Surveys vary in point value, ranging from 50 to 700 PrizeRebel points dependent on availability and length.

We’d recommend you focus on the surveys offered by Toluna and Sampilicious as they tend to be the highest point earners. Timing-wise, weekday afternoons seem to have most surveys available but plenty is offered on evenings and weekends as well.  Keep an eye out for the daily survey as well.

It’s no surprise that longer surveys are usually worth more points, but sometimes you luck out and get high paying shorter surveys. Each survey you take has an estimated length listed but the accuracy can vary.  For example, a survey with an estimated time of two minutes actually took over 15 minutes to complete.

Referral program

PrizeRebel also has a referral program, where you can earn money based on each new PrizeRebel member you refer to the program.

If you have lots of friends or family, signing up for the PrizeRebel referral program might be the easiest way to earn extra cash without taking up any more of your free time. To take advantage of PrizeRebel’s referral program, simply log into your account for your unique referral link.

How to earn points fast on PrizeRebel

In addition to surveys, PrizeRebel has several other ways to earn rewards.

What are offer walls?

On their offer wall, you’ll see options for other surveys and product and services testing. PrizeRebel is upfront about which offers require an account sign up or credit card, and which ones are free trials. They also display how long it takes to see points credited to your account.

There are also tasks you can earn money to complete. Tasks can be a good alternative to surveys but some tasks, like watching short videos, only pay a few pennies.  It would take a lot of video-watching to make any real money.

PrizeRebel has a partnership with FigureEight which pays you for completing simple tasks like drawing a box around an item in a photograph or categorizing product names. The tasks are very similar to Amazon’s Mturk and you can earn 1-2 cents for each task which usually take a few seconds to complete.

You can often complete the same task over and over increasing your ability to earn. If you complete 50 online tasks each minute you can earn $1 a minute or $60 an hour. Not too shabby!

Lastly, if you refer your friends to PrizeRebel you can earn a residual of 20% of their earnings.  This residual can stack up if you have several people sign up who are actively earning on the site.

PrizeRebel’s membership levels

PrizeRebel offers several levels of membership for its users. You start off at the Bronze level and progress for them. Once you earn 1000 points ($10.00) you’ll bump up to the Silver level. At this higher level, your residual referral earnings go up to 25%.

Reaching the Gold level requires at least 4500 points but at this level, you get discounts on prize cashouts and other perks. You’ll also get more perks as you climb the level ladder.

No matter what level you are at, you can cash out your points and still keep climbing.  That’s because level progression is based on total earnings to date and not your available balance.

PrizeRebel rewards

PrizeRebel uses a points system with an easy to understand conversion rate.  Every point you earn is worth one penny. Once you have accrued 500 points you can redeem your points in the form of various gift card options to different merchants or in PayPal cash. There are also few rewards available at the 200 and 300 point levels as well though these are limited.

You don’t have to wait long to receive your earnings. Payouts are usually processed within 24 hours.

Once you reach the gold level they start processing within five minutes. Some gift cards are sent electronically via email, while others are physical gift cards. These are mailed within 7-10 days so make sure you read the fine print.

You can also set a rewards goal that is tracked by a handy progress bar.  The progress bar helps show you how close you are to being able to cash out that reward. This brings up another perk of gold status. At that level, your reward goal will automatically process when the goal is met.

PrizeRebel likes to say that some people are earning over $500 a day on their site. This seems unlikely, though you can easily earn or so a week (which can add up to $520 a year). To reach the $500 a month mark, you would have to spend over 5 hours a day on the site.  This might be a waste of time due to the low earnings-per-hour rate.

PrizeRebel raffles and sweepstakes

Another use for your points it to participate in raffles offered by PrizeRebel. You can buy a ticket for 10 points. The site will show you how many other entries there are and how long until the raffle ends. They run one raffle at a time, but provide a list of upcoming raffles.  That way you can take note of their start dates and plan to enter if the prize is more interesting to you.

The Lucky Numbers Jackpot drawing is a cool option that takes 20 tickets.  It’s basically a lottery where you select four numbers for your ticket. The prize you can win is a number of points, for example, 1500 points are the prize this week. You can win by having a partial match much like a real lottery.

If you are active on the site you can rank on their leaderboard.  This lets you win additional points by being one of the top 10 users. For each two-week period, the top 10 users are shown on separate leaderboards depending on the earnings category e.g. points, tasks, offers, and referrals. Each person in the top 10 gets a bonus with the highest points bonus going to the highest earners.

Pros of PrizeRebel

During our PrizeRebel review, we found the following aspects to be the best parts.

  1. You can easily make $10 per week on Prize Rebel without a lot of effort. This won’t change your world, but completing daily surveys doesn’t take a lot of your time.
  2. Tons of options: One thing that made PrizeRebel standout was the wide variety of available surveys to choose from on the site.  They also have the option for you to complete tasks which provides a unique avenue to earn that a lot of survey sites don’t include
  3. Low threshold for cashing out: PrizeRebel makes it really easy to cashout the money you’ve earned by setting their threshold at only $5.00

Cons of PrizeRebel

These are things that we found to be the drawbacks of using PrizeRebel.

  1. Options for cashing out UNDER $5: If your account balance is less than $5, then you can only select an Apple gift card or Dunkin gift card, not cash.
  2. Some offers are pretty tedious: Some surveys pay very little for a lot of time (ie. a 20-minute survey paying 127 points ($1.27). The same thing was true about having to watch videos.
  3. Sign-ups can be confusing: We noticed with some of PrizeRebel’s offers there was a long cycle of sign up pages.  This can get pretty confusing, so scrutinize them before you sign up.

Summing up our PrizeRebel review

In summary, PrizeRebel is a fun site that is easy to use and offers a variety of ways to earn money. The company has a long track record of paying its users, low cash out thresholds and a variety of payment options. You can even try your luck at their raffles and lottery!

PrizeRebel also partners with so many survey companies that you will rarely find yourself without a survey to try and you have a good chance of qualifying for a survey with the high number of available choices.

The ability to complete simple tasks is a unique addition to the PrizeRebel rewards site and as your skill increases and can complete tasks easily and quickly, your ability to earn increases as well. Not only is site a great way to make a few dollars a week in a few hours of your time, but you can earn passively through referring your friends and getting a cut of their earnings.

If you’ve enjoyed our PrizeRebel review, we highly recommend you give them a try. After that, check out some of these other paid online survey sites.  If you stack a few of these, you can start to make some decent cash!
