What is Swagbucks?

Swagbucks is one of the world’s most popular reward websites. That’s right. They’re not just a website for taking surveys, but rather they offer several different ways for you to earn extra money. This includes watching videos, using cashback coupons, and more.

You can then earn points for completing these activities that are exchanged for rewards like cash and gift cards.

Is Swagbucks legit?

Are Swagbucks surveys legit and worth your time?  Yes.

According to Trustpilot, they have an 8.3 rating and nearly 9,000 total reviews. They are easily one of the most reviewed survey websites we’ve come across.

According to this verified user, Swagbucks is a great platform once you take the time to learn it. They also mention a great point on how it’s ideal for earning rewards casually, but you get what you put into it.

Set reasonable expectations

Too many people expect to make a full-time income or substantial extra money from websites like Swagbucks, discouraging them when they don’t. The key is to approach these platforms with the right mindset.

However, we did find this Swagbucks review that has some critiques about the survey panel. Apparently, over time they noticed a decline in quality and customer service. They did not receive points they worked for, and some videos would be bugged.

Overall, they claim Swagbucks to be unpredictable and they’ll be moving off of the platform until these issues are fixed. Across our many survey site reviews, we’ve noticed reviews like this to be common.

Swagbucks parent company, Prodege llc, boasts an A- rating on the Better Business Bureau. They scored 4/5 with 243 reviews, and have been accredited for 8 years. This is the best BBB rating that we’ve seen so far from any reward website.

Now, let’s take a look at the registration process and learn how to use their platform to begin yourself.

How does Swagbucks work?

swagbucks homepage

You can sign up for Swagbucks with your email or Facebook account. Both are quick and easy, and they won’t post to Facebook if you choose that option. You will also earn 50 points for registering which is a nice bonus.

The homepage displays featured ways to earn rewards, the most popular activities, special offers, and more. It’s a bit overwhelming visually, but you get used to it after a while. On the sidebar, that’s where you’ll find navigation for tasks, rewards, and contests.

Quick Tip: If you plan on signing up for multiple online surveys you should think about setting up a separate email address.  It’s a quick way to optimize the survey process a little by cutting down on inbox clutter.

How do you earn Swagbucks?

There are several different ways you can earn using apps like Swagbucks, such as by shopping online, playing games, performing tasks, taking a paid survey, or even checking out new products and apps.  This gives you a lot of options you can look at when working with the site.

Shop online and earn

The first way to begin earning is through shopping. Imagine being able to earn extra cash and gift cards for buying from your favorite stores. Swagbucks is one of the only survey websites that offer this feature. You can earn from 3 to 12 SB’s or up to 12% cashback by shopping through their affiliate links.

Taking online surveys and watching videos

The second way is by watching short videos and rating them to earn points. This is much more laid back if you want to take a break from more active tasks like surveys. It’s not hard to watch a few of these a day so it can start to add up fast.

With that being said, you can answer a daily poll that ranges from 1 to 20 minutes or longer. You will have to complete out a brief questionnaire to qualify, and the paid survey themselves are very standard.

You’ll choose between multiple choice answers and input information like your age and postal code. There’s no progress bar, unfortunately, which is a tiny feature that we look for on all survey websites.

Exploring the search engine, mobile apps, games, and services

There is also a “Discover” section that has miscellaneous deals, including downloading apps, searching the web using the Swagbucks search engine, and playing mobile games. These can net you hundreds or thousands of points very quickly.

Try the Chrome extension

If you download and install the Swagbucks Chrome extension as well, it will notify you if websites are available for cashback rewards and you get 50 points for installing it.

We really like that there’s a variety of ways you can earn and that Swagbucks is very generous with the number of points they reward. You won’t be waiting around for long before you’re cashing out or receiving gift cards — but, we’ll talk about that more in a moment.

Cool contests like Swago

Lastly, there are contests you can join to win big prizes. The first being Swago, which is a tile-based game where every square is a specific activity. You have to complete that activity to check it off, and if you create certain patterns you’ll win more rewards. It’s an extra incentive to be active on Swagbucks, it’s a lot of fun, and definitely, a way that they have differentiated themselves.

How to make even more Swagbucks

There are also team challenges, such as Woodland Adventures. These allow you to partner up with other users to compete against other teams. The goal is to complete as many tasks as possible to earn a higher grand total. Users who contribute at least 600 points will also be awarded rebates. Lastly, Swagbucks holds sweepstakes where you can win tens of thousands of points, $100 Amazon gift cards, and more big prizes.

Download the mobile app

If you’re like most people, you might not always be on the computer, but you always have your smartphone with you. That’s why Swagbucks has a mobile app you can download to earn extra money on the go. Instead of scrolling through Instagram in your downtime, earn an extra couple of dollars or a gift card.

Now that we’ve taken a thorough look at the website itself, let’s dive deeper into what we can redeem our points for!

What are Swagbucks rewards like?

One of the first thoughts you have about a survey site is probably “What can I get with my points?” and the variety Swagbucks offers will make your jaw drop.

Categories where you can earn rewards

  • Charity Donations
  • Apparel & Accessories
  • Department Stores
  • Electronics
  • Food & Beverage
  • Gaming
  • Health & Beauty
  • House & Home
  • Music & Entertainment
  • Sports & Outdoors

Earn gift cards from various retailers

You can choose between gift cards for restaurants, Amazon, clothing stores, Indigo, iTunes, and more. There is also an option of using a Paypal account to make withdraws in $25, $50, and $100 increments.

This is great news for students, as you could put this money towards improving your personal finances.

No physical merchandise or sweepstakes

While there is no physical merchandise, most users will be perfectly satisfied with this rewards program. Based on the rate we gained points during the review, it’s safe to say that redeeming is quicker than other platforms we’ve tested.

Pros and Cons of Swagbucks

Pros

Throughout our Swagbucks review, these were some of the best aspects we noticed:

  • Plenty of rewards: PayPal deposits, gift cards, and charity donations mean that you have a great variety of rewards to choose from. One week you could use an iTunes gift card to download your favorite music, and the next you can dine out at your favorite restaurant.
  • Mobile app: Very few survey websites offer a mobile app, but Swagbucks’ is fantastic. It doesn’t take up much space on your phone and allows you to earn money from anywhere. This saves you from having to manually log in through your computer or browser.
  • Contests: We appreciated that Swagbucks also features team games and sweepstakes for the opportunity to win big. This makes the overall experience more enjoyable and motivates you to stay consistent.

Cons

Swagbucks is a great platform, but it isn’t perfect. We did pick up on a few flaws that could be improved upon, such as:

  • Website design: We found the Swagbucks website to be overwhelming and slightly cluttered. There are many things going on at once, especially on the home page. It’s not a dealbreaker, but we have seen better designs on other reward websites.
  • Eligibility: Not every country is eligible to sign up for Swagbucks. Currently, the available countries include Canada, The United States, The United Kingdom, Australia, and Ireland. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use this platform if you’re from outside these regions.
  • Survey qualification: While you will bank 1 SB for being disqualified, it’s a common report among user reviews that qualifying for online surveys can be difficult.

Wrapping up our Swagbucks Review

Swagbucks is an incredible survey website where the pros heavily outweigh the cons. Registration can be done through email or Facebook, and you’ll earn extra points for verifying your account.

Yes, the websites feel cluttered, but that also means there are more things to do. You can take surveys and answer questions, watch videos, play games, and even get cash back for shopping. How great is that? The mobile app is also a nice touch if you install it, and the contests are further motivation to stay active.

You can bank points at a good rate, meaning that you’ll be cashing out faster than expected. Some activities can net you hundreds or thousands of points at once, as well. Points can be redeemed for several different PayPal amounts, gift cards, or charity donations.

We strongly recommend based on our Swagbucks review that you sign up today and use them to earn cash and rewards.
